9.5.2010 | Women's Soccer
The Oswego State women's soccer team played to a scoreless tie at halftime, but was unable to hold off Hamilton in a 2-0 loss on Sunday afternoon in Clinton. Lauren Faver put the Continentals on the scoreboard early in the second half, which eventually became the game-winning goal. The Lakers, who moved to 1-1 overall, will open the home portion of their schedule on Saturday against RIT at 1 p.m.
9.5.2010 | Women's Volleyball
The Oswego State volleyball team quickly won the first set 25-16 against Hartwick before prevailing in four sets (25-16, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14) to pick up its first win of the season at the Hartwick Invitational. The Lakers dropped their final match of the weekend to Kean 3-0 (19-25, 17-25, 19-25) to finish at 1-3 overall.
9.4.2010 | Men's Cross Country
The Oswego State men's cross country team started the 2010 season with an impressive first-place finish after scoring 33 points edging out Oneonta by two points at the Oneonta Early Bird Invitational on Saturday. The Laker women's harriers took second place after scoring 55 points, which was behind Oneonta's 16 points.
The Oswego State field hockey team survived a late surge from visiting Houghton to win its home opener 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at South Athletic Field. Kelly Collins (Jr., Fairport, N.Y.) paced the Lakers with two goals in the first half, while the defense held off the Highlander offense in the latter stages of the second half to preserve the victory.

9.2.10 | Men's Ice Hockey
Two players from the 2009-10 Laker men's ice hockey team, Neil Musselwhite and Eric Selleck, are seeing their careers extend past Oswego State as they signed professional contracts since the season ended. Selleck signed an entry-level contract with the NHL's Florida Panthers, while Musselwhite signed with the Hamm Young Stars based in Germany.

Kassie Kleine (So., Cazenovia, N.Y.) jumpstarted the Oswego State women's soccer team in its season opener with a goal 3:48 into the game as the Lakers defeated D'Youville 8-1 on Wednesday night in Buffalo. Kleine's goal was the first of three scores tallied in the first 13 minutes as head coach Brian McGrane's squad held a 6-0 advantage at halftime.

William Smith scored in the eighth and tenth minutes before taking a 3-0 lead into halftime, and never looked back as the Herons handed the Oswego State field hockey team a 7-0 loss on Wednesday night in Geneva. Emily Atwan paced William Smith with two goals and an assist, while Tempe Newson added two goals.

The Oswego State men's soccer team battled the heat on Wednesday afternoon as it dropped its' season opener against RIT 2-0 in Rochester. The Tigers applied pressure throughout the contest as RIT out-shot the Lakers 20-9. It was the first contest for each squad as Oswego State fell to 0-1 and the Tigers moved to 1-0.

The Oswego State men's soccer team starts another season today as the Lakers look to qualify for the SUNYAC Post-Season for the fifth time in six years. Head coach Bob Friske's squad has several familiar faces on the 29-man roster, including 17 returners and seven starters, to help Oswego State improve on its 6-10-1 overall and 4-4-1 league record.

Oswego State senior Matt Deveney (North Syracuse, NY) scored five runs for the baseball team in its final week when it posted a record of 3-1. In the second game of a doubleheader against Clarkson, he went 2-for-3 at the plate. Deveney led off the ninth inning with a double before scoring the game-winning run for the extra-inning 4-3 victory, adding to the two runs he tallied earlier in the game. He added two more runs to his statistics, one in each of the SUNY Canton games later in the week. The Oswego State baseball team finished the season with an overall record of 20-16.

Women's Lacrosse
Oswego State senior women’s lacrosse player Jessica Zenzel (Johnson City, N.Y.) tallied four goals and an assist on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon against New Paltz. Zenzel brought her season statistics to 24 goals and 23 assists, while helping the Lakers defeat the Hawks 17-13 for their first conference win of the season. Oswego State finished its season with a 7-10 record.
